Autumn Events with Visit Heritage

Many Visit Heritage partners up and down the country are beginning to finalise their Autumn event calendars. We have picked eight properties which are holding events throughout the season, including a virtual Speedweek at Goodwood and a celebration of the changing of season in the gardens of Sherborne Castle.

All of the properties are in Hudson's Guide 2020, which is a great resource for discovering historic houses, gardens, castles and much more throughout the UK.

Garden Development Walking Tour at Chatsworth House, Derbyshire 24th August - 7th October 2020

Join the experts from the garden team at Chatsworth, including leading garden designer Tom Stuart-Smith, and discover the work being carried out that will transform the Chatsworth Garden over the next few years. A guided walk is followed by an afternoon at your leisure, giving visitors an opportunity to discover the extensive gardens at their own pace.

Craft Fair at Hever Castle, Kent

10th - 13th September 2020

Head to Hever Castle in September for a contemporary craft fair organised by Craft In Focus. Over the four days visitors will be able to discover around 120 exhibitors from the UK’s finest designer makers and contemporary artists at this craft fair based in the heart of the Kentish countryside. Craft in Focus have chosen specific designers for their individuality and innovation in contemporary design so you will be exposed to a whole host of British talent.

Pub In The Park’s Drive In Garden Party at Knebworth House, Stevenage

11th - 13th September 2020

Designed for these unusual times, Pub in the Park’s drive in Garden Party is an innovative way of enjoying amazing food, a great line-up of live music from acts including Kaiser Chiefs, Basement Jaxx and Rick Astley, and all from the safety of your own private enclosure! Pub in the Park’s drive in Garden Party invites visitors to simply park up, pop out and party with a car-full of friends and family, whilst enjoying lush food and top music in their very own socially distanced garden.

Museum of the Moon at Durham Cathedral, Durham

13th September to 6th November 2020

The Museum of the Moon comes to Durham Cathedral! This is an opportunity to be one of the first to interact with thisastounding art installation from artist Luke Jerram, in situ until 6 November.

Goodwood Speedweek at Goodwood, Chichester

16th - 18th September 2020

The West Sussex countryside will once again reverberate to the sound of engines at full chat this autumn with a one-off extravaganza; Goodwood Speedweek. Speedweek will be a once-in-a-lifetime event, bringing together more than a century of motorsport and motoring and celebrating the past, present and future. The three-day digital broadcast will be packed with supercar demonstration runs, new car launches, next-generation technology from FOS Future Lab, and an online auction of beautiful machinery by longstanding partner Bonhams.

Lincoln Cycle Sportive at Doddington Hall, Lincoln

20th September 2020

The Giant Lincoln Sportive at Doddington Hall continues for 2020, with new routes taking you to some beautiful parts of Lincoln and the surrounding area. This year riders can experience the Lincoln ridge, including Scampton, home of the Dambusters and the RAF’s Red Arrows, quaint Lincolnshire villages such as Navenby, and even a venture towards the river Trent into neighbouring Nottinghamshire. With a choice of 4 set distances, there is a route for everyone.

Autumn Migration Guided Walk at Holkham Hall, Norfolk

2nd, 9th and 30th October 2020

Each autumn, thousands of migrant birds return to their wintering grounds via the wonderful nature reserve at Holkham House. Join expert guides to search all the best bird trails looking for scarce warblers and a host of other unusual visitors, here to stock up on food and rest before continuing on their long journeys south.

Autumn Colours Weekend at Sherborne Castle, Dorset

24th and 25th October 2020

Visitors can take advantage of a reduced admission fee for one weekend only to Sherborne Castle Gardens. Visitors will be given an opportunity to explore the impressive lake and gardens, witnessing the spectacular golden autumn colours. The tea rooms will be open for Afternoon Tea or a light snack and the gift shop has plenty of souvenirs to choose from to remember your visit.
